Since latest Snapshot (1.9.804.3) Vivaldi starts minimized/hidden.
-
As title states, Vivaldi starts minimized and/or hidden. The only way to bring it up is to open Task Manager and right click and select "Maximize"
It has happened twice now.

@criticalt3: can you tell us a little about your hardware/platform and your history with Vivaldi? We've seen a few reports like this, but not been able to reproduce it.
-
@Ayespy Certainly! Sorry I wasn't specific in the original post.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro x64bit on a homemade machine with the specs as follows:CPU: AMD FX 8350 4.0GHz
GPU: AMD RX 480 8GB ASUS STRIX ver.
RAM: 16GB of Kingston HyperX FuryI've been using Vivaldi since Alpha stages up until now, with it serving as my primary browser ever since.
Thanks for the reply! Hope this helps! -
@criticalt3: Hmmm - no third party security software?
-
@Ayespy I've got BitDefender running, but that's about it. Which I've always had with Vivaldi.
-
@criticalt3: A recent finding has been that some people who have run 3rd party security software with Vivaldi for over a year, no problems, suddenly find that the security software has started to block Vivaldi or one of its processes.
-
@Ayespy It is in my exclusions from a previous mishap, haha.
The problem isn't occurring anymore after a Windows update. Perhaps it was a Windows issue?
We shall see. Thanks for your kind responses.

Vivaldi still has some problems with remembering its window size, so I guess this issue might be somehow related to that. You're not the only one suffering from this bug, though it never happened to me personally, for example.
What you could try in such circumstances is to try focusing the "invisible" window (by pressing
[ALT]
+[TAB]
) and opening a new window ([CTRL]
+[N]
). This one should theoretically appear on the screen. Then you could try to close that invisible window and restart Vivaldi. Hopefully, it'll remember the position of the last closed window (which was on screen).BTW. You don't need to use the Task Manager to use the "restore" or "maximize" commands. If you're able to focus the invisible window, you can then just press
[ALT]
+[SPACEBAR]
