Flash disabled on 1.8

When using Spotify Web Player, Flash is disabled by default, even if the new Flash setting is set to always allow Flash.
I have to right click the small white square in the top left corner of the page to allow Flash and then it works, but reloading the page reproduces the problem.
I didn't have this problem with 1.7.

Please check if Flash is enabled in settings.
- Open vivaldi://settings/webpage
- Check at Flash Plug-Ins
Yes, it's set to always allow.

I don't know atm how the page delivers the flash content but that behavior is quite normal if it is in e.g. an iframe from a different (sub)domain.
Maybe setting an exception helps:
- Click on the security button
- Click on website settings
- Add an exception for the domain that delivers the flash content.

It didn't work for me at first, but I went on to update Flash Player, restarted Vivaldi and now Spotify Web Player plays music without problems.
Here are my settings from chrome://settings/content:
Flash: Block sites from running Flash
Manage Exceptions:[*.]spotify.com
> Allow -

I'm not able to update Flash player as it's a work computer and I don't have admin rights (that's why I'm using Spotify Web player instead of the desktop app).
vivaldi://flash shows this:
Flash plugin 24.0.0.194 C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\pepflashplayer64_24_0_0_194.dllLast version is 25 (https://www.adobe.com/fr/software/flash/about/)
Is there a way to use a portable Flash DLL ?
-
Just checked Chrome 57 which doesn't have the same issue and chrome://flash show this:
Flash plugin 25.0.0.127 C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash\25.0.0.127\pepflashplayer.dll
Is it possible to make Vivaldi use a Flash version stored in AppData ?

I'm sorry, but I don't have any experience with this. But I've been wondering: couldn't you just ask your sys admin to simply update the Flash for you (as long as it's actually going to solve your issue)? Or better - let you install Spotify app?
Another workaround that came to my mind was to listen to Spotify on your phone (as long as you can charge it at your workplace), but without a premium subscription that probably wouldn't make much sense. I wish I had a better solution for you, but that's all I've got ATM.

My question was about how to make Flash work reliably on a portable install of Vivaldi as it does with Chrome, not about how to access Spotify in my company. I may use Flash with other websites.
My current solution is using Chrome to access Spotify, but I may expect my browser of choice that can be installed without admin rights to allow access to current web technologies. Sadly, Flash still is one of them.
Flash will be updated in my company computers in a few weeks and my problem will be solved...until version 25 is blocked by browsers a few weeks later, as 24 is today. This is not a durable solution.
The real solution is Spotify making their desktop app portable and their web player work without Flash...both are asked for years on Spotify forum.
Until it's done, and Flash disappear, browsers have to handle it.

Yeah, I did know that prior to your reply - that's why I said that I don't have experience with that (and thus I'm unable to help you resolve that one particular issue).
BTW. Vivaldi's "standalone" installations are not technically portable. Some data is encrypted using unique user's ID and thus can't be used on other devices or other user's accounts.@porecreat said in Flash disabled on 1.8:

They've been removing more stuff from their app recently than actually adding, so I wouldn't hold my breath on these either. They hardly ever listen to their user's feedback. Their company's credo seems to be totally opposite to the one of Vivaldi's.

@porecreat
Try to start Vivaldi with command line directly point to PPAPI plugin place
For your case example;C:\[vivaldi_install_path]\vivaldi.exe --ppapi-flash-version=25.0.0.127 --ppapi-flash-path="C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash\25.0.0.127\pepflashplayer.dll"
You can create desktop shortcut with that.
That one works just fine !
Just one strange thing is that vivaldi://flash displays the right version with the wrong path:
Flash plugin 25.0.0.127 C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\pepflashplayer64_24_0_0_194.dll
Anyway, everything works as expected !
Thanks a lot @dLeon !

@dLeon Seems that this parameters actually only bypasses Flash version blocking, but it still uses the system wide version.
https://www.adobe.com/fr/software/flash/about/ says I'm using version 24, same when right clicking on a Flash frame.
The solution works to allow Flash content on an old version, not to actually use a standalone version.

@dLeon said in Flash disabled on 1.8:
That command line parameter work on me, even if I don't give
--ppapi-flash-version
. That one only cosmetic.
Adobe Flash test site (or any test site) will detect I use correct one.--ppapi-flash-version
is actually not cosmetic. It's the one that prevents Vivaldi from blocking the old Flash version, by bypassing version read in the DLL.--ppapi-flash-path
doesn't work for me. It always uses system DLL (tried different paths, different DLL sources).Try to rename
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\pepflashplayer64_24_0_0_194.dll
, and see if Vivaldi stand alone really pickup our parameter. If I could rename this file, I'd update it ;o)
I've finally picked up an absurd solution: I've set
--ppapi-flash-version
to 50.0.0.0, bypassing many future Flash versions blocking (hoping Flash will totally disappear before then...). Flash will be updated when my company IT updates it system wide on every computer. Thanks anyway !
