@pacopata
For your number 2.)
This function is already there - although a shortcut is missing at the moment. To go from "site.com/store/folder" to "site.com/store/" just "Ctrl + LMB" on "store"
or you can go directly from "site.com/store/folder" to "site.com" by "Ctrl + LMB" by clicking anywhere on "site.com" -
Hello. I'm asking for it again, but I know this is a very good idea and I will spam this until you will add it to browser.
Can you make option to put opened tabs next to address bar like in IE11? I asked about it on twitter.
Thanks to that we will delete one bar and have more space for sites content.
So there will be only:
buttons (vivaldi/back/forward/refresh/main site), ADRESS BAR, OPENED TABS, min/max/close buttons
Favourite sites bar.You can ckeck my visualisation in attachment.
And I'm still waiting for e-mail client builded to this web browser! -
Make Vivaldi more compatible with touch-interfaces. I work on a school with 600 students, and we have bought 70 inch screens for our classrooms. Vivaldi would be perfect for our teachers, because they can customize it to their needs, height and more.
Please, make it happen.
-
Support for multiple user-profiles, with a user-switcher besides the extensions-toggle. When switched, the browser should apply the profile's preferences and extensions.
-
Option to auto-hybernate background tabs every xx minutes.
-
@dLeon (weird, for some reason I can't automatically quote your post!)
It took me a moment to understand that you must select multiple bookmarks and not folders of bookmarks, but this is a handy trick for exporting! Thanks...
-
@dannilundgren if you type: Chrome://settings into the address-bar you can actually use the built in chrome functionality to add new profiles (its a little glitchy though)
-
Download Panel need better notification GUI & download failure support
I have been avoiding using vivaldi to download anything because i feel it's not very stable, & pretty intimidating to use. i hope it will be improve in the future.
-
Need clear progress feedback when a download is "downloading data". currently i can't tell if a download is stuck or downloading data after starring at the items in the panel for more than a few seconds...
-
Notify me when a download is not downloading anything (0Kb/s) for 10 secs. Or when it's stopped, error, & need user attention to continue downloading for whatever reason.
-
GUI to add mirror or new URL to continue download an error/stopped download (if the hosting server support it). This is vital for downloading large file, because it can eliminate failure to complete some download if we can fetch & replace the outdated url to continue the unfinished download.
-
Function to open referrer page of download. Make it easy to re-download or fetch new URL of failed download.
-
A native way to pass download URL to external apps/download manager. I know there are extension for this, but i can't find one that working 100% with Vivaldi & Free Download Manager/Mipony. (maybe someone can suggest an extension to me?)
Thanks.

Therefore post only one request per reply so that people can easily vote for your favorite feature.
You can use the vertical dots icon at bottom right of your post to edit it for about 20 minutes after posting.

@dannilundgren I have no idea of the technical aspects of implementing this but it's a great idea.
-
@EmilEichhoernchen I have made this request as well and believe it would really help manage memory.
-
@dannilundgren I am not so sure that it's such a great idea. You can already install Vivaldi as multiple Standalone versions, each with their own profile to suit different users. Each user can have his/her own shortcut to launch Vivaldi.
I find it hard to believe that many users will want to use different profiles for different tasks or at different times of the day.
In the case where users share computers, won't they want their own privacy and personal settings? If it was possible to switch profiles, the other user would lose their privacy.
-
Custom background color (or by theme) for blank webpages.
However, I don't know if chromium allow this. -
@Pesala You are right, but the fact is that we, at my work, have PC-modules which is not on our local domain. The users, teachers, would have to log in with other credentials compared to their domain account, and that would freak them out.
A solution could be a portable / plug and play user-profile on a flash drive, but I really don't know if that is possible.

It depends on implementation.
If you'll encrypt the entire profile then it's secured a little.
Here on Vivaldi forum you can also switch profiles. I know that you are visiting here and I know your username. So I can play with your profile here too. The obstacle is the password.@dannilundgren said in Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9:

Yes. You could be able to move the Vivaldi's data in
%localappdata%\Vivaldi\User Data
to e.g. flash driveF:
So every user will have their own flash drive with their own profile.
Then just edit Vivaldi desktop shortcut on the shared computer to launch Vivaldi with custom userprofile
--user-data-dir="F:\Vivaldi\User Data"
The only issue could be that you have to somehow guarantee that the anobody's flash drive will be mounted exactly on
F:
or modify theUser Data
path launch parameter if it mounts differently. -

path launch parameter if it mounts differently. You can assign custom letters for flash drives (to always mount them with that specific letter) using the Windows Disk Management tool (on W10/8 press
[WIN]
+[X]
> Disk Management; on older versions you can find it in the Control Panel). You can assign one drive per letter - Windows will remember those settings and as long as that letter is not automatically assigned to another drive, it will always mount that drive with the custom letter. -
@pafflick With reference to my latest batch file on the "release an official portable version" thread, I have the following comments:
- you really shouldn't try running the user profile on the flash drive - I did that for a couple of days and it is just incredibly slow
- better to have a batch file to copy your data to the PCs hard disk, then copy it back when the program closes
- if your batch file is on the flash drive then it's actually very easy to set the local and destination directories in DOS (no messing about with "F:" or whatever)
- my batch file (on the other thread) is based around a portable copy of Vivaldi - and has extra stuff to periodically backup the user data, so here's a short version based on Vivaldi installed on the C: drive (copy the user data to the flash drive (e.g. f:\Vivaldi\User Data) and put this code in a batch file e.g. f:\Vivaldi\RunVivaldi.bat):
@echo off mode con cols=230 mkdir "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\" mkdir "%TEMP%\Vivaldi" robocopy "User Data" "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data" /mir /z start "c:\Program Files\Vivaldi\vivaldi.exe" --disk-cache-dir="%TEMP%\Vivaldi" robocopy "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data" "User Data" /mir /z rmdir /s /q %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Vivaldi rmdir /s /q %TEMP%\Vivaldi exit
(check the location of Vivaldi on the PC - I'm not using a typical installation here...)

What type of flash drive did you use? What kind of interface? USB 2.0/3.0/3.1/other?
@mossman said in Feature requests for 1.8 / 1.9:
mkdir "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data"
Any reason to use the long path with
%userprofile%
instead of just%localappdata%\Vivaldi\User Data\
?Nevertheless, I agree that your solution might be the best option in this case.

Some generic USB key my company gave me - plugged into various PCs. I assume USB 2.
Thinking about it, I started using this USB key in the early days of Vivaldi - so the performance (mostly limited by the infamous TopSites file) may have improved since then.

?Uuuhh... I didn't think of it?

Is it possible to create somehow a profile transport via Vivaldi profile? Like the Google log in in Chrome. IF I log in to Vivaldi forum probably the browser can sync personal set-up, passwords, etc.
