Search Suggestions don't show

They don't show in both the search bar and the address bar. I enabled for both in settings.

@Azenix - Which search engine to do you have set to default? Did you fill in the suggest URL for that engine in Settings?
-
google, just checked and appearntly it doesn't have one by default, they need to update this.
-
you have to add it yourself manually in Settings/Search

Thanks

@Azenix: For licensing reasons, Vivaldi is not allowed to put it in. A user has to do it.

Curious that they restrict that. In general, I'd have thought that Google would want to ease people using their searches as much as possible, as long as the autocomplete suggestions are genuinely being used for Google searches (and not, say, to populate the search field for another search engine). I imagine it could be hard for them to check if a use is legitimate, though.
I see this post suggesting they were going to close public access back in 2015. Did Opera work out a deal with them, and that's why the above example uses that "client=opera" parameter?
Users using the "client=opera" string in Vivaldi isn't going to get Vivaldi in trouble, I hope, if they start to see an uptick in people doing that? (Browser still sends identifying HTTP headers.)
On this topic, I just noticed a 1.7.735.36 bug that I've just reported to the bug report form. In search settings, in the engine list, if you click the "Edit Search Engine" (pencil icon) button on one entry that has a Suggest URL, and then without canceling, hit the "Edit Search Engine" button on another entry that doesn't have a Suggest URL set yet, the Search Suggest field isn't cleared. It probably wouldn't be appreciated by the first search engine's company if you save that and use their suggestions for the second search engine's queries.

@Isildur: Interesting. But, hey - it's a work in progress.

Bing is okay... Google cant. maybe contract thing

Didn't happen to me.
*shrug* I tested it on both OS X and Windows. For whatever reason, it didn't happen to a couple of the entries that didn't have a Suggest URL set, but to most of the others (including Google, if I reset search engines to the default settings), it would carry over.
