Discussion on experimental history feature
-
@ian-coog: You have to enable it here: vivaldi://experiments/
The it should show up as a menu item (top) in Speeddial -

vivaldi://experiments/
i've tried it and nothing appears to me by clicking the new history in the making, seems not ready for public
-
@helsten2 Holy Macaroni that looks awesome! Thanks for the heads up
-
@ian-coog: Strange. I am just a normal user. I was not aware of this page, but suddenly it appeared in autocomplete.
There are two check boxes: "Phillips Hue Integration" and "New History Page". -
@helsten2 yes, I have both options too, and after enabling the new history tab, it appears a new tab, but nothing appears by clicking it or even bookmarks and the old history tab. I had to click the options twice (every time i open vivaldi://experiments/ it appears unchecked even if i actually checked it) to make the new tab disappear, as it's useless for me as it is
-
@dleon: On you Speedial you should now have two history choices: "History" (as before) and the new "History in the Making".
-
@ian-coog: Did you restart Vivaldi?

Ah now I have, thanks. I see the new history with all the stats, bells and whistles. Fancy. I'm not sure I really ever need it, I never even clear my history.
-
@helsten2: History in the making ftw!
-
@helsten2 yes, I have this with https://mobile.twitter.com/vivaldibrowser
in the panel. Icon only shows when I open the panel; gone every time I restart Vivaldi.Edit: After activating "history in the making" ( vivaldi://experiments ) the icon is now reloading

This page is not available if I select it and use Go To vivaldi://experiments. However, if I copy "vivaldi://experiments" and use Paste and Go it works.
-
@pesala: Did you restart Vivaldi?
-
@helsten2: That History in the Making is WOW!
-
@dLeon World of Wizardry perhaps?
-
@Pesala That's an issue for all internal pages. They need to be typed in or copied & pasted into the address bar.
-
@dLeon WOW! As in 'amazing'. But there looks to be some wizardry involved.
-
A lot of detail and info in the new history.
At the moment I have to click the calendar at the left on the 4th Feb to show today's history(5th Feb) but the heading is telling me it's the 3rd of Feb.
I routinely delete history and cookies so the stats are of no use to me.
Nice work by vivaldi team though for developing this unique history. -
@helsten2: Um, sorry for being dense, but huh?
I have searched Flags for "history in the making", but there's no hits. Is it maybe not a Linux thing?
.....................................................................................................
Tower & Lappy = Maui 2.1 "Blue Tang" x64 Plasma 5.8.4.EDIT -- Yes, i am dense indeed. You said "vivaldi://experiments/", but Sunday-morn-&-still-no-coffee-yet me instead searched in "vivaldi://flags". Sigh. Now it's all good. OMZ -- so much data, graphs, numbers! No idea if any of this will ever help me, but wow just the same !!
-
@cantankrus: I think the bug of today/yesterday is already fixed internally. Here, on the blog, for now, you have only access to the branch to 1.7, as it's the short term goal. And remember, it's still experimental
If you don't like the stats on the right, you can click the "info" button, at the top right, and it will hide the panel.
Anyway, enjoy -
