Tab Bar Placement
-
I'd like to place Tabs on the right, as it allows me to open many more tabs with visible headers versus a top placement. However, when I place the Tab bar on the right, the tabs open with 'Thumbnail Views' (as it was called in Opera 12 and before) which takes up too much space. Is there any way I can 'Disable Thumbnail Views' for tabs (like in Opera 12)? Also can we resize the Tab bar when placed on the right as in Opera 12?? This really helps increase the screen area.

Maybe something in vivaldi://flags ?

I don't see it there, but there are plenty of other tasty things in there.

You are aware that the tabs resize themselves after they have filled up the column, right?

I was not. Thanks for pointing it out. That's a great solution.

Noticed this. However, I also noticed that on my system there is essentially no visible demarcation between one tab and the next (a situation aggravated by the fact that inactive tabs are faded) and so I have to remind myself to look for the favicon and label to know how to select which tab.

But it is still distracting. I would still like to have the ability to disable thumbnail view and have a neat stack of text-only tabs (on the left, in my case).

add this line to C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Vivaldi\Application\1.0.83.38\resources\vivaldi\style\common.css:
.tab { max-height:30px !important }This will hide the thumbnail by limiting the maximum height of tabs, though it's not a permanent solution.

Agree. I like vertical tabs but dislike thumbnail view.

Where in common.css do you put that? Mine has no linebreaks and is long and unreadable.

You can place it before anything else. There are many online tools to make the files readable, like this one: http://www.styleneat.com/
