Snapshot 1.3.582.3 - Web Panel improvements and a new Snapshot logo
-
In today's snapshot we use a new version of our logo to help show the difference between snapshots and stable builds, added new options for web panels and per tab zoom as been set as the new default.
-
Thanks to all devs & have a nice weekend!
-
Thank you!
-
Nice, big changelog !! Thnx
-
After closing the panel bar I see a the whole page shifting left for a second, and a wide bar on the right.
-
BUGS:
-
Now, the window control buttons(minimize, maximize, close) in W10 are black instead of white, like before. I'm talking about a theme with "accent color from active page" turned on. Go on the Subtle theme and turn on "accent color from active page" to see what I mean.
-
Coloration is still an issue in the UI. Ex. go to wikihow.com, and look at the buttons beside the address bar. And if you have "accent color on window" on, then you'll notice non-current tab's text and new tab and trash icons are also dark when they should be light.
-
Close button on tabs is now more squared off. Ugh. I wish we could retain our corner rounding, as it's very nice. The close button looked like 4px or something before, now it looks like 2px.
-
The issue with "hibernate tab" and "hibernate tab stack" still remains. You fixed the options disappearing, now they're always there no matter if the tab/tab stack is hibernated or not. I know this was fixed more than one version ago, and it has now come back again when you fixed the first problem of "hibernate tab/stack" not showing up.
That is basically all. I love the new panel animation, by the way.

Yay!!! The macOS tab/title bar now has a gradient! THANK YOU!!!
Tweaking my theme colours to…
Bg: #f6f6f6 / Fg: #333333 / Hl: #006ed7 / Ac: #e6e6e6...now makes Vivaldi look close to native. The non-current tab highlight initially took a bit of getting used to but I like the change overall.
Vivaldi on the Mac just keeps getting better and better!!

I know Helmers mentioned that after adding the base value of the corner rounding, that you tweak it up and down per UI element to change it's looks, but I feel this is not a good way of handling it. The tabs are now not very rounded, and we have to crank up corner rounding by a lot more just to see them more rounded, and I don't want to see other parts like the address bar cranked up as well, as it'll look worse.
I also hate how SD thumbnails corner rounding was basically taken away completely. When it first came out, SD thumbnails were nice and round, now they're not rounded at all.
Tab thumbnails I think should also be rounded. I think every element in Vivaldi should be rounded, as it's nice, friendly design: Rounded Corners and Why They Are Here to Stay. And Why Do We Love Rounded Corners?.
I miss the accuracy of the corner rounding that the first 1.3 snapshot came out with. Tabs looked more rounded, and SD thumbnails were also nicely rounded. I would like it if some other way was possible, like adding an option for corner rounding set on px value as something we could check off in the options.

Thanks very much very pleasing to see so many changes before the weekend.

still no drag to create window? zzzz…
-
I'm using each snapshot as default browser. Really disliking the logo, it looks kinda.. dead on my taskbar. I think the whole logo distinction is kinda pointless, if you want to know what version you actually use, look in the About dialog…

I found the bug on this snapshot. I use snapshot for Mac by Japanese setting. When I launched this snapshot, Menubar menus temporarily became strange! Almost English. Some menus were gray out. Some menus were not displayed.

THEY AND EVERYONE ELSE HAVE HEARD YOU. Helmers also said that they'll be revisiting this in the future. Perhaps they'll add an "Absolute Corner Rounding" checkbox just for you.
-
I see it too. I think the intent is to have the panel 'slide' out, but the main webpage next to it does look very janky.
-
Vivaldi has increased to a score of 499 on HTML5test.com, probably due to the Chromium engine change.
-
Does anyone here use a desktop PC with a keyboard that has its own numeric keypad? If so, try using it. For example, hit the Home key to go to the top of this page. What you'll find instead is that it activates zoom and shrinks the page (hitting * restores it). PgUp does it too.
(Numlock is not on.)
Using the same keys to the left of the keypad (Home, etc) work as expected.

Nice idea of different colors betweem versions
-
No Sync yet?

Centered images! Finally! You have no idea how much that bothered me!
Now, we only need a "open image (in current tab)" option!I also loved the new logo for the snapshot releases! Good call on that one!
And finally, I'm once again amazed at the number of fixes! Keep it up!

For a moment, after updating, I was worried that that charcoal logo was the new general logo (which would be a mistake IMHO, both because the red color is nicely vibrant, has some obvious relevance to the browser's heritage, and could be interpreted as a reference to the nickname "il Prete Rosso").
