On the road again

Hello,
since Opera 37 is as standard wine ad blocker is on board,
runs great. How about if you so which also incorporates in Vivaldi.

Hi, please implement DL speed as a matter of urgency. I've been recommending Vivaldi to family and friends but the glaring omission of having an ETA of when your download completes is biting me in the bum. I recommend vivaldi and to them it's why should I switch from Firefox and then when they don't have the features they are used too they don't want to use it.

I don't understand why this is such a big issue. All you have to do is look to see how much data has been downloaded after 1 minute (or 10 minutes for a big download), to guesstimate how much longer it will take to complete.
Anyway, regardless of any estimate, you still don't know when it will complete because download speeds can fluctuate and estimates are often wildly wrong.
Like Feature Requests, downloads are available when they are ready and not a moment before. For goodness sake, do something useful while the download does it's thing and quit worrying about things beyond your control.

So far the direction of development is solid. Any plans on introducing "extension button reordering" ???
And also in a speed dial, being able to "go back" from the folder to the top level using "back" shortcut (as you would to navigate to previous page)?Waiting for both of those since for a long long time now…
-
Hi, is there any bug number in which you reported this request? If you have not reported, then please do and provide the bug number back here.
-
The button reordering will surely come as part of more flexible user interface. Rest assured this is definitely planned.
The Back on Speed Dial should come with the planned Speed Dial rewrite which will make it more flexible. Have you reported bug on this? -
I cannot confirm when I enter soundcloud.com and play a few songs. Does it happen always? What are the other conditions to cause it? Any precise link to a song which causes browser crash when closing the tab?

seldom is a CEO mindset combined with humbleness of an evangelist as is in the person of Mr. Tetzchner. Have a great trip.

Excellent news etc. and much applauded. I wish I had the time and money to pop down to Brussels. Just wondering though: why no visit to the Netherlands, the home of progressive thinking in all areas of life, including Vivaldi? Next time round perhaps? (Not that I'm in any way important, but with the chance of a historic meeting I could probably make the time to drive into Amsterdam!)
(PS I am not Dutch.) -
Win 64, Viv 32
I've played with it and have no problems.
I did get a drop-down warning Flash was inactive , didn't get activate tab like other sites I use so could it be on Soundclouds side? If it was html 5 I thought it would have played anyway. Solved it in plug ins tab and went to it marked the "always run box" and all is fine. Never did have the tab closing and/or issue browser crash.
I DID have an issue with Flash on other site though, if I quit streaming and leave for awhile when I come back can't get site to stream. I have to exit browser then re-load it and then all is well.

There is no BUG number just a feature he or she thinks all should drop everything else and add.. I WOULD understand if he has some BIG disability that he or she needed it for ( he or she may ) but for the life of me (except for brain defect)… I can't think of one.

Like Feature Requests, downloads are available when they are ready and not a moment before. For goodness sake, do something useful while the download does it's thing and quit worrying about things beyond your control. While I agree it's not a big issue, I still find the indication of download speed useful.
If it's not useful at all, why do you think most downloaders have them? (torrent clients, wget, Firefox downloader, etc.).
We had a conversation of a similar flavor on the "no image" feature a few months ago. I recommend you use a bit of imagination before deciding that a feature which is not useful to you must be useless to other people. Of course there are tons of features you do not find useful. But, try to imagine how they may be useful to other people.
The download speed indication is useful because
look to see how much data has been downloaded after 1 minute (or 10 minutes for a big download), to guesstimate how much longer it will take to complete
is tedious to the human and easily doable by the computer much faster than the human.
If the estimate is 20 minutes, I may go to get some tea; if the estimate is 1 minute, I'll wait for the download to finish and start to work on the data as soon as it's finished–-This is one example of how it's useful.
-
The point is not whether it is useful to me, but why Harry Dizzler whines about this in every Blog like it's the most important feature of a browser.
It may have been useful when we all had dial-up connections, but with for users with fast broadband it's irrelevant. Many downloads complete before I have time to choose a download folder (in Opera 12.17). Only if I am downloading a Gbyte or thereabouts, does it becomes relevant.
The progress bar is just as useful as a digital estimate — that's why human beings are quite happy to read analogue clocks in this digital age. One glance at the progress bar will tell you whether you have time to make tea or not. If you're worrying about how long a download will take so that you can start work, then you need a break. Go and make that cup of tea anyway.
I don't doubt that they will implement this, but it is not nearly as important as some people are claiming.

Yep. These are all pending features. It is on the list and it will most likely be done by me. Hard to say when as there is a lot do be done.
-
Jon, I'm concerned about monetizing Vivaldi. Search deals require a huge userbase, and lets be honest– that isn't going to happen.
Have you considered charging for the browser? People that value customization are willing to pay. I've personally been waiting for a version of Chrome with mouse gestures that REALLY WORK for many, many years now.
-
I for one would have paid to keep Presto Opera and M2.
If Vivaldi can get close to offering me an alternative to that - primarily the integrated mail client, but also the same ad-blocking, context menu options - and, as noted further up, the right-click + wheel vertical tab cycler (which I've found I really miss) then I'd be happy to pay for the software. Maybe a premium version with all of the old Opera bells & whistles included?

You haven't been on long most here that I know have been here for over a year…dizzler asks EVERY build and has been explained to his since the FIRST time he ever got on. The answer doesn't change, he doesn't listen, and he thinks apparently it will speed up the process. Most think it is just RUDE.

Ditto see reply above BEFORE I caught this.
As I have said it must be nice to have BLAZINGLY fast speeds, there a GREAT many of us that don't. Very few out of CITY in US, among the slowest adv in world.
