@Acada said in Half sync?:
the switching tabs
I don't think I understand what you mean here?
Sync will work with remote tabs (the ones you have open on other devices), and will show them in the cloud () menu next to the closed tabs menu ().
But it won't actually open tabs in the tab strip for switching.
Indeed there is a handy extension that can delete lots of different cache data
I can also access the site after clicking the option in the advanced section.
It seems as everyone else has a different error and can override the block, that the issue is not Vivaldi in general, but something specific to your setup.
You browse via the Startpage or searx.me proxies unless you need to login.
I run into this in Linux (Antergos / Arch), where a freshly started Vivaldi syncs immediately to any changes on any machine, without me having to do anything manually, but after the system (with Vivaldi open) has hibernated and reawakened, Vivaldi doesn't seem to sync at all. Sometimes for days...
"Apply Changes" doesn't solve the problem here unless I disable sync and re-enable it, which requires typing a "secure" and difficult password. I end up closing and restarting Vivaldi a lot...
Maybe right-clicking the Sync cloud icon could offer "Sync now"? Or I just noticed it offers "Simulate browser restart" - wonder if that would work when sync seems stuck...
Like most current browsers, Vivaldi is based on Chromium, Therefore it is quite possible that certain web pages identify it as Chrome, but this would happen the same with any other Chromium-based browser. This has nothing to do with having an identity of its own, which Vivaldi undoubtedly has, but in a deficient identification on the part of these pages. "Chromium engine, it must be Chrome"
Site Settings. You can access them for a specific site by clicking the lock icon in front of the URL in the address bar. Globally they can be configured here: vivaldi://settings/content
Edit: Restoring link, clicking it doesn't work, but right-click open in new tab does.
Update: The latest version of Vivaldi lets you log into a separate account. This partially solves this issue. A personal and work account can exist easily. Yet, a feature-rich bookmark manager would be great.
@potmeklecbohdan Found it! For mobile.twitter.com the Vivaldi icon main menu offers an option "Install Twitter" (free translation from my Vivaldi in Dutch).
But clicking the option causes Vivaldi to immediately close (crash?).
I'll file a bug report.
I am also interested in your offer for a mod. I am generally interested in applying my first mod, so I'll start a fresh request at the appropriate forum.
@amandabrant Unfortunately you found an old thread which is not up-to-date anymore. The information on access to vivaldi.net's mail has slightly changed.
Please use the settings written at https://help.vivaldi.com/article/vivaldi-net-and-its-webmail/#setup
