I've started getting this issue regularly again.
One of my work laptops keeps on getting stuck with "clashes with another client" in the sync upload. When I log out and log in again, there will be old duplicates of notes I cleared months ago.
I recently cleared the data and re-connect all 9 devices... but annoyingly it's started again after only a few days. Having to continually scan my notes and bookmarks for duplicates and then look through all of them to determine which is the current version (dates and titles stay the same) is a real pain in the backside!
@ruudtes A Tip for You:
Help on Feature Requests
There are a number of feature requests on this topic. Please vote for those that you think would be helpful.
Enable Spellcheck in Settings, Webpages
Spellchecker in Settings
Consolidate Settings in a Single Place
Reorganize the Settings Dialog
Move Chromium Settings to Vivaldi's Settings
Vivaldi settings and configuration
Settings not visible
Countdown and Alarm Settings can be Setting in Vivaldi Settings
Different Settings (for different types of user).
Bottom-line: There are already too many settings for some users. Almost every update adds more options to the settings dialog, and users find it hard to navigate. The search field in the Settings Dialog is very helpful, but it does not find hidden settings
Can we somehow disable paid completion entries?
It isn't paid, it's just Autofill enabled at Address Field Settings, common behavior of most web browsers.
If it appears in the autocomplete suggestions drop-down you can identify from where it comes from (bookmarks, history or typed history) and delete it with Shift+Del.
You can read about how Vivaldi makes money here: https://vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-business-model/
We are mixing oranges and apples here.
Vivaldi doesn't make anything like Presto, a JS engine or other browser components so it doesn't compare with old Opera. Vivaldi could chose to add a GUI to Firefox code but they chose Chrome/Chromium because back then the code was more modern and easier to deal with compared to then aging Firefox.
When developing Web sites you have two options.
You stay "conservative" and use only "standard" stuff that you know works everywhere or you push to the limit knowing you are going to full support just some niche, usually the most common configuration, once it was Windows + IE nowadays I guess it is Windows + Chrome and Android + Chrome. My own bank Web site doesn't work with anything but Chrome for example.
It NEVER depends on the browser because developers can always test their stuff and find a workaround for issues, at least in the 99% conditions.
The real issue works in reverse. Chrome being the "standard-de-facto" means Google can decide how the Internet must be made. There aren't many developers and even less customers who chose to struggle to maintain "neutrality" for the sake of the Internet and everybody.
@luetage said in Color Switching of Tab and Menu Bars:
@edwardp You gotta change this in the theme you are currently using.
“Accent color from active page” is what you need to toggle.
Thank you. I was looking for a setting searching for 'color'.
@lysisromulus I noticed that it likely for folders to be dropped inside another folders when trying to change their order on the Bookmark Bar while dragging them with Shift held down. Once inside a folder, I could not get it to drag out again onto the Bookmark Bar.
@derei said in Vivaldi could get inspiration from Stack:
The Tab Tiling functionality is .. okay-ish, but so cumbersome to activate and use
Learn how to assign and use your own shortcuts to make it easier. Settings, search for Tile and then for Select.
Include Active Tab in Selection
Select Previous Tab (I use Ctrl+Shift+Left cursor
Select Next Tab (I use Ctrl+Shift+Right cursor
Tile Vertically (I use shortcut t)
Tile Horizontally (I use shortcut Shift T)
Tile to Grid (I use shortcut Ctrl+Shift+T)
Untile Tabs (I use shortcut Ctrl+t)
Vote for Horizontal Tab Scrolling Instead of Shrinking
I have issues with Netflix also, but:
Netlix has done something to the quality of video here in Canada (not the US though)
The latency (lag time?) through my ISP is quite high, sometimes as high as 70ms per jump from one ISP node to another (with 4 or 5 jumps that mounts up quickly). I am no network expert but if you put all these together...
Similar results with FF (do not use chrome or edge)
I do not have the blacked out shows issue you have
So I'm not ready to blame Vivaldi yet.
@EvilSpark How is it related to your question? Okay, I switched the topic in the middle of my sentence, but still it may be the reason for it. Just an example:
Let’s assume you have all your SD icons in ~/viv-sd-icons under this structure:viv-sd-icons
|- current -> dark
| |- asdf.png
| |- ghjk.png
| |- ...
| |- asdf.png
| |- ghjk.png
| |- ...
You have all the icons selected from ~/viv-sd-icons/current/
When you wanna switch the theme, just$ cd ~/viv-sd-icons && rm current && ln -s dark current
But yeah, this surely isn’t the reason for that. Just a nice way how to make it an advantage.
