I didn't actually have a /opt/vivaldi direrectory. I made one just in case it fixes the problem, but as expected it doesn't because it's empty.
For widewine you can open vivaldi://components and try to update from there. I guess ffmpeg is updated with it, too.
I went to vivaldi://components and clicked "Check for update" under the only thing with Widevine in its name ("Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version: 0.0.0.0", Status - Up-to-date). All that did was change "Up-to-date" to say "Component not updated".

Can you check Widevine codec at internal page
vivaldi://components at section Widevine with "Check for Updates" button and post version number here?
If not try to update codec ins shell (terminal):
sudo /opt/vivaldi/update-ffmpeg --system
So far i get it to work the stable repo by using
deb [arch=amd64] http://repo.vivaldi.com/stable/deb/ stable main
this means with out httpS.
brave browser and other repo's work just fine with https which leads to the question if vivaldi certificate isnt upgraded or my system some how is not able to validate the certificate.
as this error shows
read:errno=0
Maybe some one at vivaldi can give a hint?
@linuxcool I saw your screenshot above, the colors in Chrome are not the same with Vivaldi, because what I've said, and in your next screenshot you've matched the colors and the only difference are the buttons. Use native window as in your first screenshot and the rest you can theme/mod it.

The search issue was as per that thread. My POST parameters were something like
"query=%s,start-page,vivaldi segment" (I can't remember the exact, as I've now changed it as per the linked post.
Issue goes away in a clean session as per your suggestion, so now I know where to start looking and/or how to fix it in final event.

I think this is fixed on 5.3 - I would regularly reproduce this before but now I cant.
Latest snapshot Vivaldi 5.3.2679.46 snapshot (vivaldi-snapshot --version) the issues persists. I believe it is bug report VB-88191 in the Vivaldi system, (thanks to @Ruarí over at Mastodon for that info).
