  Actually, Wayland is supported (experimentally) on Vivaldi via Ozone. You can enable it with this flag: vivaldi://flags/#ozone-platform-hint Setting it to "auto" will tell it to use Wayland if it's available, otherwise, use X11. That being said, I did mis-speak. Drag and drop was not working with Vivaldi using the XWayland protocol. If you set the flag I just indicated (so it will use Wayland directly), it does work. Although, I'm now finding I have issues with cut-and-past. Further research on the subject suggest the issue may be specific to Nautilus file manager on Gnome 43. So, the issue may right itself in time. All of that being said, it's also my understanding the hardware video acceleration for Chromium based browsers using Wayland via Ozone is not yet supported.

  Just an update on this issue: sadly V46 did not fix my problem BUT, I think I have found what causes it: I lose sync when Vivaldi is closed and is opened by clicking a link outside the browser. Any link. If Vivaldi is already open, and I click the link in lets, say, an email, all is good. So, I remembered that extension sometimes can have unintended consequences. As I only use 3 it was easy to work out which one caused the problem: Bitwarden. I turned this one off and all seems to be ok. I will have to investigate further, but surely there are others out there using Bitwarden with Vivaldi, and it only happened recently, so I'd say an update broke something. I will keep you posted.

  @luetage IMHO all, ALL browsers should be distributed in form af a portable app. Reason: If I open up and use a browser, when I log in to different portals, especially when I use my password and any personal info, there should be NO TRACE on the Computer I use this browser on. I keep my browsers on a encrypted SD card or USB drive (LUKS, f2fs partition), and when I close the browser application/folder and take out my SD card or USB drive, there are no traces in any .config, .cache or .var or.... any other place on the PC I used the browsers on. Then, I cad take the SD card or USB drive and use my browsers with all my data contained in the browser folder in the stage I left them at the last session, and I can continue working on any other PC at home or at work. And again: no traces left, no entries, no search history, no user IDs, no password on any comp I use. BTW, I use Firefox (different versions), Brave, Libre Wolf - all AppImages. They are placed in fully independent, closed folders, I create myself. And this should be with any applications that contain sensitive data. Should my laptops get stolen, there are no personal data on them.

  I use my own Speed Dial folder called "★ Start ★" so Vivaldi will not change content as it would do when Startpage (the bookmakr folder "Speed Dial") was updated with pre-defined bookmarks.

  Thank you. Fortunately the actual passwords themselves are not my biggest worry, because I also haven them elsewhere. It's more a problem of convenience - since currently the save password functionality is completely unavailable, I keep typing in passwords for the same sites. I would really like to understand what's wrong here.
