Im forever getting this problem, multi-process browsers just eat up RAM, although less on my 32bit laptops.
Being a bit of a tab whore myself the only viable option seems to be firefox for me although multimedia wise that browser is a little lacking
Ubuntu definitely has central network settings and these are set as well.
When I do 'env' in the console I can see the settings done in the central network settings.
But these are not used by Vivaldi at my side.
When I looked into this in more depth it turned out that QT3 is, surprisingly, a dependency of the Linux Standard Base compliance package and not directly of Vivaldi. It would therefore seem to be outside the control of the Vivaldi devs, unless they were to drop the LSB dep which is unlikely.
It's a sad fact that all technology standards lag far behind, and it seems LSB is no exception.
Thanks Mikko211, that seems to have fixed the issue with passwordbox. i just created a whole new account-profile and all. and i deleted the old vivaldi folder in config.
i'm a little slow on the uptake with linux sometimes because i was a dyed in the wool windows os person.
The next version of the deb&rpm will configure a package repository that will keep Vivaldi up to date.
We are not going to prioritize any platform. Linux is just as important to us as Windows and Mac OS X
