yes it was only the tabs that were frozen, I was unable to switch tabs, the only way to access the other tabs was by closing the current tab that I was on.
I upgraded to version 5.1.2567.73 (Stable channel) (64-bit) and can't reproduce the issue yet, so hopefully it solved itself! 🤞

@kgash I went back to settings and set the tab to open a custom page (www.google.com) and this seemed to fix the problem. I'm not sure if fixed the root cause of the problem but it works.

@hskimpole Works with Vivaldi here. That indicates your problem is local to you. There is something about your location or system blocking login. This can be 3rd party "security" software which does not recognize Vivaldi and so interferes with its communication using certain protocols.

This is the modal I'm referring to. When I switch tabs, before the download is finished, this modal will not be shown to me, and the DL get stuck at 99% with no chance to get it out of the loop.

You don't need this setting, also it's not enabled by default.

Maybe if you look at the domains of the saved cookies then you would know what those other sites are.

So sorry for the delay in replying! I believe the png and jpg are both 24 bit images.

I am no longer certain that this is exactly the issue. My background image seems to randomly stop working using either jpg or png, and opening up the settings and changing the image to the other file type fixes it, at least for a random amount of time.

Both images were derived from the same image, but I opened the image in paint.net and saved it as a different file type.

As of now, I cannot consistently reproduce the failure to load the image. Previously one file type always loaded, and the other didn't (png and jpg respectively). Now the results seem to be inconsistent.

@tcash78 yes. this is an issue on surface. I think just hitting return works (gets you the default save action) but any attempt to touch one of the buttons - save, save as etc. - fails and you need to reload the page to get rid of the now-frozen dialog.
