I was just testing an import today and noticed the duplication import issue. This is on an IMAP account that is no longer active.
In M2, I copied one email to another IMAP account as a backup and imported that account first. So the copied email exists in M3 on import.
However, when I import the original account, then all the email from the original account is successfully imported, but the email that I copied to the other account does not get imported in with the original account.
On test install, if I only import the original account, then the email is imported as expected.

This issue does not come up on the forum much, it doesn't seem to be a wide spread issue. Without mentioning what lMAP service or IMAP server software is affected, and without a bug report allowing to reproduce the problem (i.e. by giving devs a test account) there will be no fix
Fair enough! I will try to create some kind of sandbox that reproduces the error.
@gmg said in Spy Pixels in Emails:
Edit that contact. Either from the dropdown menu in the header or by going to the contact from the contacts panel and uncheck the "Always allow external content" there
Thank you so much, this was driving me nuts!
@gmg said in Spy Pixels in Emails:
But being able to stop allowing external content straight from the header should also be a thing (just haven't gotten around to it)
Yes, please. This is so hard to find, I had to post a feature request / UI bug on the forum here.
I believe, somewhere near "Treat Sender as a Mailing List" in the header context menu as well as in the "Sender" submenu of a mail folder's email list item's context menu (that was a mouthful!) would be the perfect place for it.
@gmg a bit surprised I can report that the newest snapshot 5.3.2643.3 fixed the issue with the mail client starting endlessly. Well done 🙂
Without knowing anything much about software development, seems like
[Mail][Performance] Faster startup by initializing threads in parallel
helped
Edit: Mail accounts are accessible again but the all messages view is collapsed and won't open; offline accounts marked for deletion in the settings are deleting forever and restart doesn't help. The profile is still borked. But: "mail client starting forever" is fixed 🙂 let me know if you are interested in anything, otherwise I'll just let the borked profile exist for nostalgia.
Just closing the loop: the latest snapshot has the fix
[Mail] Easy to cause trouble with actions when forgetting to click “add to search” (VB-84664)
Yey!
https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/lots-of-crash-fixes-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-2643-3/
EDIT: the implementation with the popup dialog sure works but I think it might be easier to just not activate the "add action" button until a search is defined, and to have the add mail filter button deactivated until both search filter and action are defined? Already now the add mail filter button is inactive until I have specified a name for the filter.
@luckyowner Mail account info seems to be stored in the file:
Preferences
However, this file also contains a lot of other settings, some of which might have been the cause of the issue that again caused the need to do a clean install in the first place. But try copying it over.
I hope no mail account related information is saved in Local App Settings as that data is basically a black box.
Hi guys, thanks for your replies.
@Ayespy
When I said that "I tried to reindex the mail database", indeed the proper words are "rebuild the mail search database", since I followed the instructions given by @gmg here :
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/73462/re-index-db-mail-client-starting-forever-mail-panel-empty/9?page=1
But even after this step, search on keywords, or on part of mail addresses, doesn't return results for recent mails. I get results for older mails, but not for recent ones.
@WildEnte Good tip, I will try again to rebuild the mail search database, but this time I will check the console.
I won't be able to test it right now, since my issue is with my mails at work, and I'm currently at home. I will update you soon, guys. Thanks for your help. 🙂

You already reported the dangling XML snippet as VB-87575
You're right. Forgot about that one.
