Er.... just another import experience:
My own labels (beyond the standard ones "important", " to Do" etc.) are not part of the import. E.g. mails related to individual customers are assigned a label. I had to define the labels again and then set apply rule on all mails (instead of only newly incoming mails).
But this (rule) method would not re-assign a label (a "tag") to mails that had (in Opera) been manually assigned a customer related label, e.g. because every rule can hardly assign each mail appropriate labels that does not miss out anything. E.g. a mail from a third party where the customer is not mentioned in the text and also not in the header fields, but is nevertheless customer-related.

@mib2berlin Alternatively - giving out your phone number or a back-up email could be an option. It is ok to have more than one level of service here. Just a thought?

Where I have a lot of email accounts.
I do not see where I can check contacts....

I did some more searching
AHA! I clicked the Vivaldi icon in the sidepanel area and searched for Contact Vivaldi mail. I was told of the Contacts Panel.
4th icon below the mail icon in default left side panel view (where I have the panels).
Or Menu area in the top: View -> Panels -> Contacts Panel
I searched for the client name and deleted the old and none working email address.

I think Vivaldi Mail is awesome.

I'm linux user, and Mail is still handled in Opera 12.16 (on notebook & desktop). Meanwhile it's getting harder to keep Opera 12.16 running in an Ubuntu-flavor machine - due to dependency issues.

Opera Mail is quite unique and yes, awesome. Correspondingly I was very happy when Opera's Mail concept was introduced from Vivaldi 3 on.

The tag based concept (instead of old fashioned folders) is very practical; full text search (in Opera) over all mails incredible quick (approx. 9 GiB, while only a dual core AMD 2.5 GHz); the mail database is rock solid. Upon crash of the system during mail text writing: no problem - most of the mail text "in edit" is not lost after restart from "backup".

This is absolutely the only reason I am still using Thunderbird, I have to have some way to easily archive old email to local storage, I have 8 email accounts all getting 100s of email per day and simply leaving years of old mail on the server is not an option from both a cost (Server space costs money) and secure backup perspective (I need to keep old emails for backup and it is much easier to do that from my local PC to my NAS then rely on my hosts crappy backups options), also local email searching is much faster.

Oh, i can reproduce it with 7.2 Snapshot.
I marked all mails as read but Mailing Lists → Other shows 1|3 as count.

//EDIT:
I could "fix" it with this strange action:
Select the Mailing Lists → Other
In mail list select "View Filters"
Activate all check boxes
Click "Reset"

Now wrong counter is gone.

Hi, if you copy over the default profile folder you may have to delete the mail database.
Make a backup, I tested this only with IMAP accounts.
Delete the folder:
\Default\Storage\ext\ mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli
At next start Vivaldi create a new database and read all mails from the folder \Mail.
Then rerun the the search database rebuild from the mail icon in the status bar.

It should be possible to copy over the folder \Mail in you profile.
Path is shown in Help > About.
To the new system, then add your mail account, delete the database.

Which Windows and Vivaldi version (see Help → About)?

Have the same problem on a "fresh" snapshot installation. The labels are still visible on the messages so they are there. They're only missing from the UI.

@danmcco Aha! The issue was in filters I had show trash selected.

This is old but VB-100317 is still present and still annoying
