@gmg Is there a chance the team can add more verbous logging in one of the next releases, which can point out to what email is causing that? Right now the error is very generic, and this is a pretty old account with thousands of emails in it. If I have a way to find that email, i'm more than happy to provide that info for your investigation.
No, if I check Use OAuth, I get the following message, I leave screenshots, sry are in Spanish.

I really just need to allow renaming of these default ones (no reason not to) and allow color for custom ones.
I think those are the next steps for it.
@gmg Welcome home. I just returned from a trip myself. I think your solution would do it. IMO it's worth the effort (easy for me to say 😉 I'll look for it in snapshot.
That did it.
Thanks so much. I had tried deleting the profile before, but I had to do it with admin privileges, so I didn't realize it hadn't worked, and I hadn't done enough customizing to notice that it didn't take.
Luckily, I had sync'ed it (since I got used to that way back in Opera 3 on 16 bit) so I'm not worried about much of anything.
Thank you for taking the time to figure this out, and for the patience to re-recommend something I thought I had done, too!
So far, so good, and now it's right where I was in the late 90s in terms of a great efficient browser feature wise, with all the better pluses of the modern technology!
Well worth the wait, too!
Great job Vivaldi team!
@rromanov I think this is required so that when you undelete the email your labels are still there.
I said somewhere else that I strongly believe that Gmail due to its combo of being a) super big and important and b) being quirky regarding imap standards requires special handling under the hood
Hi, I add my Gmail account on a clean profile a few minutes ago.
One user report the same but readding the account work but the Google calendar fail with the same error.
On a new profile all was working.
You can simply rename your profile folder "Default", Vivaldi create a new profile with the next start.
Check if mail work.
If you use sync it is easy to get your new profile working.
The path to the profile is published in File > Help > About
@SVGuss I communicated with the mail developers and they encouraged me to file this bug:
M3 continually receives mail even when "Check for new mail" is set to "Manually"
To change this will require a partial code re-write. For IMAP accounts, checking for new mail cannot actually be turned off at present the way the mail client is designed, unless you actually take the account off line.

database (e.g., sqlite) needed, so no danger of corruption -- has happened to me with an mbox mail store (which, I assume, is what Vivaldi is using
Yip, essentially that's what Vivaldi does. The database is the central piece. And the fact that it contains the option "rebuild database" will probably be the final proof you didn't even need anymore that you don't want to try it 🙂
But it was an interesting discussion, thanks!
I have the same problem as Milanber - mails are impossible to delete when I search for them in "All Messages" but can be deleted when I search for them in "Sent". I kept two of these mails for testing - the logs are identical to what milamber posted.
I think your extrapolation of yourself being representative of "Vivaldi Mail group" is perhaps a result of the bug, rather than a justification of it, and maybe a little one-eyed.
The 5 points were intended to make the point that its a brilliant product, and that potentially, a huge part of Vivaldi Mail's target audience could likely be gmail/workspace users. If I were to use the same logic, I'd extrapolate myself to be typical of desirable "Vivaldi mail group", but I recognise, we're only a part.
I'd love to see Vivaldi Mail product manager escalate this relatively minor update, to make the product also fantastic for another huge group of users. Until they do, its just a pity for this group, but we good other options regardless.
@Pesala said in Mail Contact list sort not respected:
Nor do I see anything in the Snapshot changelogs about sorting contacts.
I don't see an option to change Contacts order in either Stable or Snapshot?? 😕
Nor are the contacts (in Snapshot) actually sorted - either by name or by email.
@1rif1modo said in Removing Duplicate Email:
So we have established that emails of identical sender & content & date//time qualify as identical
No, we have not.
To the very least, there may be different headers (which is typically not content by definition) or different receivers (which may but not necessarily has to be indicated in the headers). Also, I would probably consider MessageID to be the most important property for identifying duplicates, but this is not sufficient in the slightest as corrupted files and broken encoding are a pain.
I'm very much in favour for removing duplicate messages and I use some extensions with thunderbird to do so, but I do not expect vivaldi to go through this hassle.
But if you wanted to have such an option, just go ahead and request it. 🙂
@Pesala I'm having the same problem. Don't have any other icons to the right of "Show." Only Trash Can symbol. Don't know how to get out of this situation. Clicked on everything I can see and no result.
