Comparatively old thread but still relevant: I didn't see it mentioned above that the behaviour, in Linux, XFCE to be specific, is different if you are saving to a shared drive as opposed to a system disk location. If your default location is on a shared drive, the "Save" (not "Save as") dialog appears regardless of how you set "Save files to default location without asking" (on in vivaldi settings, "Ask where to save each file before downloading"). But the setting is honoured if your default location is e.g. ~/Downloads.

Is there a workaround for shared drives? Any ideas as to why the behaviour would be different?

Oh wow, thank you so much! I have 3 Windows PCs with Vivaldi installed and only one of them can trigger Picture-in-picture properly through a shortcut with a Google-made PiP extension. This script works great on youtube.

@lukaskarabec From my testing, sync of new history items is working with mobile in snapshots. But you will need to wait until the feature is fully finished and released before using it in stable versions. But for now, still not working with full history.

Would it also be possible to implement a system similar to opera's file panel? It would complete the same functions as drag and drop from downloads, but also allow access to images from the clipboard.

I see it quite often on unreliable wi-fi networks, which is not that uncommon if you travel with your laptop.

And, well, the dinosaur is at least visually aligned with the rest of the page. The Vivaldia banner looks like a very cheap advertisement.

Not to lie or shame but a new browser (based on firefox gecko engine just like vivaldi on chromium engine) floorp browser (based in Japan, small team) provided us the option on request (requested him last year and was told he will definitely add this) for vertical tabs and new tab button (see two types of new tab option button exists) (see highlighted).

Wondering what is keeping vivaldi at bay? Castaway? FedEx delivery package? (Cant even add via customizations, so unfortunate when working with multiple tabs open)

The Tab Bar is not currently an editable toolbar.

The request is for a button that will go to the next/previous workspace with a single-click.
A Command Chain button can do that, but must be placed on the Navigation Bar, which seems to be the obvious place for buttons to navigate between workspaces. It can be positioned directly below the Workspaces button, to the left or right of the History Buttons.

Shortcuts are better, but only if you can remember them. Opening the workspace drop list only takes two clicks to choose any workspace.

Yeah, that seems possible, the last poll about tab using some time ago result in 8% of Vivaldi user use more than 100 tabs.
No idea how many use more than 300?
I use two windows on my 2 display desktop system sometimes but even with 700 tabs in 5 workspaces and playing a 4k video in the second window Vivaldi does not lag for me on my Ryzen 7 system.
May you check the new workspace feature in Vivaldi, no multiple windows needed anymore.
I test always without extensions, Thorium comes with preinstalled uBlock extension.
No social media on my systems. 🙂
I test on Windows 11 dev again and Thorium is about 10% faster on Speedometer, without uBlock.
It is more the missing features keep me away from other browsers, mail, calendar, speed dial, notes, panels and much more i use on a daily basis.
I can add extensions but then I get the extension problem, makes no sense to me.

Few notes on first use:

When you use the option it displays pop-up menu with all the available notes. The menu is not scrollable if there are more notes than it can accommodate. So it must be filtered. It only becomes scrollable once you open the folder containing the notes.

Secondly, there isn't an option to directly append text to the last selected or opened note. Having to search for the same note every time is not productive, even less than pasting the text directly into the notes panel.

I'd love to hear your opinion on these observations. What are your thoughts on this matter?

@davidgarciasantes Vivaldi did not make the translation tool. They made a deal with Lingvanex.

I suspect that any AI tool may not be free. What do you suggest that they use?

@SmoothMarx That request did not gain much traction. I guess because there is a simple workaround, in your case, switch to the first window before restarting.

Tip: Make a bookmark to vivaldi://restart to speed up the process.

Anyway, let us see if anyone else needs this.
